Raised in rural Saskatchewan, Kris Burwash had a much different relationship to music and sound. The quiet of prairie nights, the clamour of farm machinery, the blasting of 80s metal tapes cruising down back roads. In 2001, he opened Listen Records in Edmonton, a hub of experimental music in Western Canada. In 2007 he started vinyl-only label Uzu Audio. In 2016 he dove into the modular synth world, making hazy ambient music that recalls dreams of memories from another life, hypnotic meditations. He has since released 3 full length albums and a double cassette audio sketchbook, Mutualisms which was the most played album of 2021 on Edmonton's CJSR radio. The album 'Holding Air' was released in spring 2022 by Amsterdam based Shimmering Moods, a second double cassette sketchbook was released in 2023 followed by a collaboration with viola player Nadir Bellahmer released a live improvised EP 'Amaranth Coral Fountain'. In 2024 he released a triple cassette homage to new age meditation tapes, 'Echoes of Enlightenment', consisting of three 50+ minute tracks on the We, Here & Now label.
